Our Mission
Epictetus was created to prevent avoidable harm, particularly among children and toddlers, by enabling cameras to recognise risk and intervene before incidents occur. Too many serious accidents continue to happen in environments where cameras are already present, but do nothing to prevent them.
Epictetus exists to change that.
Our Focus
Epictetus is advancing proactive safety across residential, educational and public environments.
The company is defining a new category of Safety Operating Systems for cameras and working with partners to bring this capability to market.
Our Founder
Epictetus was founded by New Zealand entrepreneur Sam McNair.
As a father of two, the company was created to address a fundamental gap in how camera systems approach safety, shifting from passive monitoring to proactive intervention.
